As chief of staff, Fred Raiford's responsibilities include restoring public service to the citizens of Walker, managing the city's budget and contracts and assisting the mayor in managing the day-to-day operations of the town.

Mr. Raiford is the former director of public works for the City of Baton Rouge, where he retired after 30 years of service. There, he oversaw a $150 million budget and 1,200 employees. He also worked with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office for three years as an assistant to the sheriff, handling the prison operations, computer operations, crime statistics, personnel department and media division.

He and his wife, Paulette Morgan Raiford, have one daughter and two grandchildren.
