Honoring Those Who Serve, a new exhibit at The Walker Museum, 29350 Walker South Road. This unique collection of historical military memorabilia from all four branches of our armed forces is on loan from generous families throughout South Louisiana. See treasures from the military in action at war and in peace throughout history, including uniforms, weapons, enlistment posters, shell casings, flags, medals of honor, photographs and more. Mardi Gras Parade
Tthe City of Walker is once again celebrating the Mardi Gras season with a parade – one that’s completely family friendly. The event is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4. The parade will feature festive floats, antique cars, horseback riders, marching bands, dancers and other performers. Participation in the parade is free and open to anyone. Those interested in marching should contact the City of Walker at 225-665-4356 no later than Thursday, Feb. 3. Participants should plan to line up no later than 11 a.m. the day of the parade. Summer Art Camps For Kids

& Community Art Gallery

Children can explore their artistic side at the City of Walker & The Walker Museum Community Art Gallery’s second annual Summer Art Camps for Kids. There’s a little something for everyone in these affordable classes for kids of a variety of ages taught by some of the best artists and educators in the community. Course fees begin at $20 per session, which includes all or most supplies. Each class size is limited to 10, providing participants with valuable one-on-one time with the artist. All classes will be held in The Walker Museum Community Art Gallery, 29350 Walker South Road in Walker. Detailed course schedule announced and online registration begins in May.

CityFest & Fireworks
Sidney Hutchinson Park
Celebrate an old-fashioned Independence Day at the City of Walker’s CityFest. The event begins at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Sidney Hutchinson Park. Look for plenty of activities for children, including inflatables, a giant water slide, hot-air balloons, train rides and more. We’ll also have an assortment of treats, including snowballs, barbecue, jambalaya and more. The celebration ends at dusk with a massive fireworks show. Families are invited to tailgate. Bring your tent, volleyball net, horseshoes, a picnic or your barbecue pit and enjoy an afternoon out. No alcohol is permitted in the park. Admission is free and open to the public. Louisiana Bicentennial Exhibit
The Walker Museum & Community Art Gallery

Becoming Louisiana: The Path to Statehood tells the story of Louisiana's road to existence. This beautiful history exhibit is designed by curator Herman Mhire and researched by Louisiana historian Charles Elliott. The first 250 guests will receive a CD that contains an interpretative history exhibit catalog and a publication called 200 Louisiana Artifacts.

Sidney Hutchinson Park
Sidney Hutchinson Park is transformed into a Christmas Wonderland, with more than 1 million colorful lights and inflatable and animated displays. Christmas Parade
Downtown Walker
Catch a glimpse of holiday floats, old-time cars, horses and of course Santa and his merry elves as they wind their way through the heart of Walker for our annual Christmas Parade. Anyone interested in taking part is encouraged to participate, and there is no entry fee. You can walk, drive a golf cart or ATV, pull a wagon, ride in a truck and trailer or go all out with a float. Tree Lighting Ceremony

When dusk falls after our Christmas Parade, we'll light up downtown Walker with our 30-foot Christmas tree adorned with 1,600 feet of lights and hundreds of ornaments created by our local first graders. One lucky child will be selected to flip the switch that lights up the tree. Admission is free.

Country Christmas Festival
Sidney Hutchinson Park
Take in the sights and sounds of the holidays at our Country Christmas Festival. Take a stroll through our Walker Wonderland, hum along with caroling choirs, hop aboard the Polar Express for a train ride around the park, build a snowman, bounce around or slide down the inflatables, drink hot chocolate and other festival fare, and await the dramatic arrival of Santa Claus.
