answers your questions

How many times a week is litter removed from the streets of Walker?
A litter crew collects trash Monday through Friday, averaging betwen 100 and 150 bags a week.

Is there any charge for having a birthday party in Punk Smith Park or Sidney Hutchinson Park?
No, there is no fee for celebrating any occasion in any of our parks. All pavilions are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Also, absolutely no alcohol or animals are allowed in the park.

Does the Department of Public Works provide address signs?
No. We no longer have the proper equipment to create address signs.

Can you fix my garbage can?
Yes, we can repair your receptacle. Whether it is a broken lid or wheel, we can repair it. If your garbage can is beyond repair, we will replace it with another one.

Where is the Department of Public Works located?
Our offices are at 13730 Ball Park Road.

What are your work hours?
The Department of Public Works office hours are 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. We are closed on the weekends.

My drainage ditch isn't working properly. Can you fix it?
We will rectify your drainage problems only if the ditch is on a Walker roadside. We do not repair any private ditches or ditches along parish roadways or state highways.
