Walker Deck the Town Contest

Expect to celebrate Christmas in Walker this year like you’ve never celebrated it before.

The Town of Walker is busy planning several wonderful events in December to mark the occasion, including our Winter Wonderland display in Sidney Hutchinson Park, our annual parade, the tree-lighting ceremony in the center of town, holiday Movies Under the Stars, visits from Santa and his merry elves, and even a snow day! For details, click here.

We’d like the entire community to look festive. So we’re challenging all businesses and subdivisions to take part in our second annual Deck the Town of Walker Contest. We’re encouraging you to decorate your storefronts and/or the interior of your establishment during the season with festive holiday themes.

Judging will take place on Thursday, December 9. Winners will be announced Monday, December 13, at the city council meeting, and prizes will be awarded Tuesday, December 14.

This year, we’ll have three categories: business interior, business exterior and subdivisions. Winners of first, second and third place in each category will be announced in a news release. They’ll receive a huge ribbon and a sign to display at their business. The Town of Walker will also post photographs of all businesses that take part in the contest on our new web site and our Facebook page, and also recognize them in The Walker Report, our e-newsletter.

To participate, simply fill out the simple one-page entry form here. You can also request one from the Walker Municipal Building at 665-4356. After completing it, fax it to 225-667-9075.

Let the decorating begin!
