For visitors

Welcome to the City of of Walker. We hope you enjoy your stay in one of Louisiana's friendliest and fastest-growing communities.
Attractions
The Walker Museum & Community Art Gallery: This a must-see for visitors. It is a journey through old Louisiana, housing a vast collection of artifacts. A special exhibit, 'Honoring Those Who Serve,' is a unique collection of historical military memorabilia from all four branches of our armed forces. See treasures from the military in action at war and in peace throughout history, including uniforms, weapons, enlistment posters, shell casings, flags, medals of honor and more. The museum is also home to a Community Art Gallery, featuring the work of some of South Louisiana's best artists. For details, click here.
Outdoor adventures: Walker also has two public parks with walking trails and playground equipment, providing acres of space for recreation, picnicking, special events, and peaceful respite. Sidney Hutchinson Park is also home to a small scenic lake that is home to native wildlife. For details, click here.

Special events
Mardi Gras Parade: The City of Walker celebrates the Mardi Gras season with a parade — one that's completely family friendly. Catch a glimpse of festive floats, antique cars, horseback riders, marching bands, dancers and other performers from throughout the region as they wind their way through the heart of Walker. Beads, candy and other prizes will be plentiful! For details, click here.
CityFest: Celebrate an old-fashioned Independence Day at the City of Walker's CityFest in Sidney Hutchinson Park. Enjoy numerous activities for children — including a giant water slide, inflatables, hot-air balloons, train rides, festival food and more. The celebration ends at dusk with a massive fireworks show. Families are invited to tailgate. Bring your tent, volleyball net, horseshoes, a picnic or barbecue and enjoy an afternoon out. For details, click here.
Country Christmas: You just haven't experienced Christmas until you've done it up Walker style. Our celebration begins with a one-of-a-kind tree lighting ceremony right after Thanksgiving. Then, in early December, Sidney Hutchinson Park suddenly twinkles with thousands of decorative lights and animated Christmas scenes, as well as family-friendly holiday movies every night. At our Country Christmas Festival in late December, it magically snows in Sidney Hutchinson Park, and Santa makes a special appearance for photos, and his merry elves serve up hot cocoa and cookies. Families can take a ride on The Polar Express, our festive train, and jump around or slide on the inflatables. And those who attend can enjoy the beautiful caroling of our community church choirs. You won't want to miss our Christmas parade through town, with Santa leading the way. And as the big day nears, Santa and his elves travel through the neighborhoods on one special night —- courtesy of the City of Walker — caroling and bringing presents to all the good girls and boys.
