Faces of Walker

Why is Walker the place to be? Hear all that this community has to offer through the voices of those who have chosen to make it their home.

Years in Walker
: 3

What brought me here: I was hired at Southeastern and needed to buy a house. I did not want to work and live in Hammond, nor did I want to be in Baton Rouge for the morning commute. I started looking at homes off O'Neil Lane and worked eastward along I-12 until I found a house that I liked. I liked the location and conveniences of Walker because it's so close to the interstate and had all of the stores and amenities that you would need on a daily basis. Also, we like going to Baton Rouge to shop, but don't want to live in Baton Rouge anymore [I lived in Baton Rouge for seven years prior]. My husband Jason and I are buying two acres in Walker off Pendarvis Lane and plan to build our next home three to five years from now as [hopefully] our last home. So we'll be Walker residents for the rest of our lives!

My favorite spot in Walker: We like the public parks [tennis, baseball], extremely close grocery stores [especially LeBlanc's] and enjoy eating at Los Sombreros Mexican Restaurant.

Why I love Walker: I love most the small-town feel of Walker and the great neighbors that we have surrounding us. I would have never guessed three years ago that I would be so pleased with my choice of home/neighborhood that I would decide that Walker would be the right place for us to live for the rest of our lives. We are really very happy here!
