Free Hunters' Sight-In

Walker Mayor Bobby Font, Livingston Parish Sheriff Willie Graves and the Pelican State Friends of the NRA are once again teaming up to offer the Annual Hunters' Sight-In.

This free service will be offered from daily from 12-5 p.m. September 15-17, and again from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. September 18. It will be held at the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office Training Center on Woodside Drive, next to the Woodside Landfill. For a map, click here.

The event provides a valuable service to the community just prior to hunting season. Bring your hunting weapons and have them checked and zeroed properly for safety and accuracy.

Members of the Friends of the NRA will be on hand to check weapons for serviceability, mount scopes and perform minor repairs. Several members of the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office Range staff and Special Operations Division will shoot and assist in zeroing weapons.

Here's what you need to know:

» Only hunting rifles and pistols appropriate for hunting are eligible for this service.

» All weapons must arrive UNLOADED and with actions open.

» Ammunition must be provided and coincide with the weapon. No reloads will be allowed.

» All targets, ear muffs, tools and cleaning equipment will be provided by the above sponsors.

If you have any questions, contact Mayor Font at 225-665-4356, or the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office Training Center at 225-686-2241, ext. 701.
